Using Uplink

In-game commands become cases

When a staff member types a moderation command in the game, Uplink sees it in ER:LC's command log and saves a case with the player, the staff member and the reason typed after the name.

In the game
:ban Bob_Racer rdm in the city
:kick Bob_Racer
:jail Bob_Racer
:log warn Bob_Racer stop speeding
:log note Bob_Racer helpful new player
  • Works for :ban, :unban, :kick, :jail and :unjail. Several names separated by commas make one case each.
  • Warnings and notes. ER:LC has no command of its own for a warning, but it has :log, which writes a line into the command log without doing anything. Type :log warn Bob_Racer stop speeding (or :log note, :log kick, :log ban) and Uplink saves the case. A plain :warn is not a game command, so it never reaches the log.
  • Shortened names work like they do in the game: :kick Bob matches the one player whose name starts with Bob. If two match, Uplink raises an alert instead of guessing.
  • Commands like :kick all are not logged, since they do not name one person.
  • Bans logged this way go on the ban list too, so the player is turned away if they rejoin.
  • It only records. Uplink never repeats the command, and commands it sent itself are not logged twice.
  • It can only log what ER:LC records. Check connection lists the last commands ER:LC reported, so you can see whether yours is in it.
