Using Uplink
Moderator panel
The Moderator panel is one workspace for moderators and admins, so most of a shift can be done without leaving it. It has a strip across the top, a row of tools under it, a place to act on the left, and a deck of what is going on on the right.
#The strip and the tools
- Server shows whether the game is live, how many players are in it, the queue, and how many staff are in the game.
- Session starts and ends a roleplay session without going to the Sessions page, and shows how long it has been running.
- Your shift clocks you in, takes a break and clocks you out, with a running timer. It is the same shift as on the Shifts page.
- You shows your actions today, the mod calls you took in the last 24 hours, and your shift time against the quota when one is set.
- Moderators now lists who is on shift or in the panel and what each one is handling, like a player they have open or a mod call they took. Press someone's player to open them too.
- When a session ends, the panel shows a recap (how long it ran, players, kills, cases by kind, mod calls answered and the most active moderators), and the same recap is posted for staff in the cases channel. Last recap opens it again.
- The tools under it are Tell the game (a banner message, a hint, or a private message to one player) and Ask for backup, plus shortcuts to the full logs, the cases and the CAD. Leave requests are on the Leave page.
#Take action
- Who. Type a Roblox username, or press anyone in the Players tab. You see their record at once: whether they are in the game, banned or on the watchlist, how many cases are active, and their last few, plus a timeline of what they did in the server in the last 24 hours (joins, team changes, kills, commands and mod calls). If they are in the game you can also Respawn, Heal or Message them from here.
- Action. Warn, kick, ban, jail, unjail or add a note (plus unban when they are banned, and any custom case types you made). For a ban, pick how long: for good, until the session ends, or a set time. Under the actions, the panel suggests a punishment from their record: how many warns, kicks, jails and bans they had in the last 30 days, and whether they were punished for the same quick reason before. Press Use it to pick it. It also tells you when a warning will set off automatic escalation.
- Why. Press one of the quick reasons or write your own, add a link to a clip or press Upload for a picture (up to 8 MB) or a clip (up to 25 MB). You can also paste or drop a file onto the panel. Then press the big button.
#The deck
- Players lists who is in the server, with the most trouble first: wanted stars, the watchlist and how many active cases each person has. Search by name or callsign.
- Map puts everyone in the server on the ER:LC map, live, in their team's colour, with a ring on anyone who has trouble on their record. Press a dot to pick that player in the action console, search to find someone, and drag and zoom like on the Map page.
- Alerts lists what Uplink spotted: kill sprees, the same player killed again and again, banned, watchlisted or ban network players joining, and new accounts. A new alert plays a sound (turn it off with Sound off), and Act on opens that player with the alert as evidence. Admins can turn on New account alert for Roblox accounts younger than 3 to 90 days, which catches most ban evaders. It is off until an admin turns it on.
- Feed is what is happening in the game right now: commands, joins, kills, team changes and mod calls, which you can filter and search. Press Act on any line to open that player. On a kill it also fills in RDM and the kill as evidence.
- Cases are the punishment logs. Search by username or pick a kind of case, press a name to act on that player, and press Void on a case that was a mistake.
- Calls shows who asked for staff and whether someone has answered. Press I've got it to take a call: everyone sees it is yours, and the caller gets a private message in the game that you are on the way. Press Let go to hand it back.
- Requests holds the ban requests, below.
- Chat is a staff chat for the moderators and admins of this server, so you can split up the work without leaving the panel.
#Ban requests
A moderator can ask for a ban instead of making one. Pick the player, choose Request ban, set how long, give the reason and press the button. The request waits in the Requests tab, and the admins are told in the alerts channel with Accept and ban and Deny buttons.
- When an admin accepts, Uplink runs the ban in the game (
:banand the player's name) and saves a normal ban case with the reason from the request, who made it as the admin who accepted, and the request keeps the case number. The ban list and ban network work as they always do. ER:LC's:banhas no place for a reason, so the reason lives on the case, not in the game command. - A denied request bans nobody and makes no case. The admin can add a note, and the moderator who asked gets a direct message with the answer. A moderator can take back their own request, and admins can take back any.
- The card in Discord updates when the request is answered, whether that was in Discord or on the dashboard. Only admins can press the buttons.
- A player who is already banned, or who already has a request waiting, cannot be requested. Each moderator can have 5 requests waiting and send 10 an hour.
- Admins can switch on Moderators must ask for bans at the top of the Requests tab. Then moderators no longer get a plain Ban: in the panel, in
/case banand everywhere else, they ask, and admins still ban directly. It is off until an admin turns it on.
- Every action is saved as a normal case and sent to the game, so it shows up everywhere cases do. Press Undo straight after if you got it wrong.
- The punishment guide starts as warn, warn, kick, a 1 day ban, a 7 day ban, then a ban for good. Admins press Edit guide under a suggestion to change the steps and how many days back it counts.
- The quick reasons are set by the server owner or an admin in Settings, under Moderation (up to 12, one per line). Clear the box, or press Use the standard list, to go back to the standard ten.
- Helpers do not see this page. They can still warn and leave notes from the Cases and Live players pages.
