Using Uplink
Desktop app
The desktop app for Windows and macOS is Uplink in its own window. Press Sign in in the app and your browser opens on the website. Sign in with Discord there, and the browser hands the app a one-time link, so the app opens on your dashboard. Your password never goes near the app, and the link works once, for two minutes, only for the app that started the sign-in.
The app is not signed by Apple or Microsoft yet, so macOS and Windows warn you the first time. On a Mac the easiest way in is one line in Terminal, curl -fsSL https://uplinkrblx.xyz/install.sh | sh, which installs it into Applications with no warning at all. If the line prints a page that starts with Just a moment..., the site's bot check stopped it, so use the download buttons on the download page instead (they work in any browser). The download page also shows what to do if macOS says the app is damaged.
The app shows its own version in small print at the bottom right of every page (for example Uplink 1.11.0), so it is easy to tell which one you have. It is not shown on the radio, MDT and phone windows that float over the game.
#Floating windows
In the app, the CAD's radio, MDT and civilian phone can each be one of the app's floating windows: a window of its own, with no frame, that stays always on top of everything, Roblox in full-screen included (on a Mac they are panel windows, the only kind that can sit above a full-screen game). Open them from the CAD's Pop out menu, or from the app's CAD menu: Full radio, Radio bar, MDT and Civilian phone. The radio is either a full radio at the side of your screen or a thin bar across the top, and you can swap between the two from the radio itself or from that menu. The MDT opens next to the radio. Drag a window anywhere by the radio, or by the title bar of the MDT and the phone, and the lock button (or Lock in place in the CAD menu) holds it where it is. Each window remembers where you put it, and the ones that were open come back the next time you start the app. If you lose one, Bring the windows to the front puts them back on your screen, and Hide all windows closes them all. Nothing opens until you are signed in, and the windows only ever show Uplink's own pages. In a browser, Pop out still opens an ordinary browser window.
The radio also answers to hotkeys that work while Roblox is in front: Ctrl+Shift+T to talk (press it once to start and again to send), Ctrl+Shift+E for the emergency button (it sends straight away, with no hold, so turn it off in the settings file if you would rather not have it),Ctrl+Shift+Up and Ctrl+Shift+Down to change channel, Ctrl+Shift+X to mute, Ctrl+Shift+R, Ctrl+Shift+M and Ctrl+Shift+P to show or hide the radio, the MDT and the phone, and Ctrl+Shift+O to bring the windows to the front (Cmd instead of Ctrl on a Mac). The keys that talk to the radio are only taken while the radio is open, no key is taken while you are signed out, and none until you have opened a window once. To change one, press Change the keys under Radio hotkeys in the CAD menu. That opens the app's settings file, where each key is a line you can edit, and none turns it off. Holding the talk button records your voice, so the first time you talk the app asks your system for the microphone.
